Avinash Ramachandran has been working in video compression as a serial startup technologist, innovator, and speaker. He is currently developing algorithms and designs with H.265, VP9, and AV1 codecs for cloud encoding products at Xilinx Inc. His work on video coding has contributed to several patents in motion estimation, motion compensation, and bitrate control algorithms. He has authored Decode to Encode, a book that explains the fundamentals of video encoding. A senior member of IEEE, he completed his Masters in Digital Signal Processing from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras in India and holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business in Canada.
